When is the Best Time to Go on a Gorilla Safari?

The best time of the year to go on a gorilla safari depends on your preferences. Gorillas can be visited all year round. However, if you would like to visit the gorillas during the dry season, July to September and December to the end of February are the best months. These months can be the busiest and most expensive compared to March, April, May, and November.

Is Uganda or Rwanda Better for Gorilla Safaris?

Both countries are good for gorilla safaris. What differentiates the two is the budget. Rwanda is more expensive in terms of gorilla permits than Uganda. As for terrain, Rwanda has a gently sloping terrain like Mgahinga National Park in Uganda, which favors less physically fit hikers to see the gorillas, whereas Bwindi National Park in Uganda has a steep terrain with thick vegetation cover, which favors adventurous hikers who like challenging activities.

The chances to see gorillas on a safari are over 95%. All gorilla treks are arranged to habituated gorilla families, thus increasing the chances of meeting the great apes in their habitat.Before you begin your trek, rangers set off very early to ensure that they find the gorillas. Is Gorilla Trekking Worth It?

There are few places on earth where you can see majestic mountain gorillas in the wild. Unlike western lowland gorillas, which are common in zoos, the mountain gorillas can only be seen in Uganda, Rwanda, and DR Congo. There are as few as about 1065 mountain gorillas left in the world. Therefore, meeting the mountain gorillas is not only a privilege but also a lifetime opportunity!

How Sure Is It To See The Gorillas

As long as you are fit to trek (not sick); you are guaranteed 95% to see the mountain gorillas on any trekking day. If you are not fit enough, you can still hire a sedan chair so that you are carried to the place where the gorillas are.

What Else Do You See Besides Gorillas

Besides gorillas, Gorilla National Parks is rich in diversity of species of flora and fauna, including other primates, birds, trees, etc. However the chances of seeing these other animal species during a gorilla trek are low.

How To Get To Gorilla Parks

All gorilla national parks are accessible by road. There is no gorilla national park with an airstrip or airport. Ugandan gorilla parks are located 9 hours away from Uganda's capital, Kampala, and 5 hours away from Kigali, Rwanda. Volcanoes National Park is within 2 hours drive from Kigali.

What Do I Need To See Gorillas

A Gorilla Permit. In Uganda, a gorilla permit costs $800 for foreign non-residents, $700 for foreign residents, $500 for Africans outside the East African community, and 300000 UGX for East African Citizens. In Rwanda, a gorilla permit is $1500 for foreign non-residents, $500 for foreign residents, $200 for East Africans, and $500 for Africans outside the East African community.

When Should I Go For Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking is done all year long. You can go gorilla trekking any time of the year. However trekking in March, April, and November tends to be the cheapest because of low-season accommodation discounts.
